Privacy Policy — StarfloaTik Hotspot

This Privacy Policy describes how StarfloaTik Hotspot ("we", "our", or "the App") handles information when you use our mobile application. The App is developed by Starfloat.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our servers. Starfloat operates no servers that receive data from the App.

The App works mainly as a local client that communicates directly with the MikroTik router you configure. All router data exchange happens between your phone and your own router on your local network.

One feature — the Maritime zone map — loads map imagery from external map providers. See section 7 for details on what those providers can see.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored only on your device, in the operating system's secure storage:

• Router connection details (IP address, port)
• Router login and password
• Your preferences (biometric login, display settings)
• Optional local history of actions you perform within the App (user creations, deletions, traffic limit changes, counter resets), retained for up to 90 days
• Hotspot page customization you configure (background image, notice text for crew)

This information never leaves your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing the App data or uninstalling the App.

3. Location

The Maritime zone map screen can access your device location to show your position on a world map together with territorial waters boundaries.

• Location access is requested only when you open the map screen, and only while the App is in use. The App does not access your location in the background.
• Your coordinates are processed on your device only. They are not stored by the App, are not sent to Starfloat, and are not sent to any map provider.
• Whether you are inside or outside territorial waters is determined visually on the map, not by sending your position anywhere.
• The map feature is optional. Declining location permission does not affect any other function of the App.

4. Biometric Authentication

If you choose to enable biometric login (Face ID / Fingerprint), authentication is performed entirely by your device's operating system. The App never receives, processes, or stores your biometric data. We only receive a yes/no confirmation from the operating system.

5. Router Data

The App reads and modifies configuration data on your own MikroTik router (such as hotspot users, active sessions, interfaces, firewall rules, hotspot login pages). This data stays on your router and is never transmitted to us or any third party.

6. Permissions

The App requests the following Android permissions:

• Internet / Network state — to communicate with your MikroTik router over your local network, and to load map imagery on the Maritime zone map screen.
• Biometric / Fingerprint — only if you choose to enable biometric login.
• Location (precise and approximate, while in use) — only to display your position on the Maritime zone map. Not used in the background.

7. Third-Party Map Providers

The App contains no analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash reporting services.

The Maritime zone map screen loads imagery from the following providers. This happens only while that screen is open:

• Geoapify — base map tiles.
• Marine Regions (Flanders Marine Institute, VLIZ) — maritime boundary layers, used under CC-BY 4.0.

To be clear about what this means: map images are requested by tile coordinates (the square of the map being displayed), not by your personal location. However, like any web request, these providers can see your device's IP address and which map area is being requested, and this is subject to their own privacy policies. Your GPS coordinates themselves are never included in these requests.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is a professional tool not intended for children under the age of 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
